Poppets, Moppets, & Williamsburg

I heard back from Williamsburg today! They said they loved the dolls I sent and want me to do a Washington, Jefferson & Randolph from paintings in their collection. I'm so excited! I'm still trying to confirm details, but it sounds like I'll be getting my Washington back and sending them another one -- so, the best of both worlds, really.

In other dollmaking news, CL's poppet has decided she needs to be a moppet. I was reading in my book, "18th Century Clothing," a children's book I picked up in Williamsburg last summer, that the dolls that colonial-era milliners used to model the latest European fashions were called "moppets." My little lady is getting all dressed up in brocades and silks, with a fancy hairdo and a fancy hat. We'll see where she ends up, but so far, she's amusing me (and that's all that really matters).
