Some of my readers might recall that I submitted some photographs of the Hamiltons to Art Doll Quarterly a few weeks or months back. Well, last night, while at my neighborhood ornament exchange party, I received an email from the managing editor. She says she's just gotten around to sorting through submissions and would like to include my dolls in the magazine with an article written by me! Isn't that exciting? This morning I am experiencing mild trepidation, however, since I know I have read and/or heard horror stories about artistis submitting their dolls for photography and never getting them back! I would be heartbroken if such a thing happened. Does anybody have any advice on this subject?

Wonderful Nina! I have heard the horror stories too, and if you go and read their rules for submissions, they even say it is common for them to have your 'samples' up over a YEAR! I dont think I could take that kind of stress....having one of my babies stuffed in a box in some strange place for that long :(

This is Wonderful Nina and you have no worries with ADQ. They are fabulous. However, they hang on to your dolls for awhile, but they get them back to you safe and sound. They need the dolls so they can have their photographers pose them with certain props. Read the Submission Guidelines and follow them. Stacey is really helpful (the editor) so if you have any questions, email her. Make sure you are clear in your techinque process and your article describes your work and you as an artist. Congradulations..JOB WELL DONE and DESERVED!
