Collage Art, etc.

As I mentioned in my last post, I've started working on collage art pieces in little (or big) boxes. They are great fun to put together, although I feel mine pale compared to other collage artists. The last box I did was a shoebox that I turned into a fairy ballroom in the Georgian style. I put in a fireplace, windows, little chairs and lots of fairies in Georgian finery! I covered the outside of the box with an upholstery weight Williamsburg fabric and rimmed it with a gimp trim.

Now I'm working on a much larger box filled with founding fathers and mothers. I've spent the past several days (limited time in studio, due to other work) collecting things to put in the room -- chairs, chests, fireplace, paintings, etc., etc. It's extremely time-consuming to create each piece and each person, so I'm doing a little bit at a time.

Last weekend, my mother was here for our monthly DAR meeting and I took her down in the studio and demonstrated how I make my armatured figures. Since I had the small demo figure, I decided to make a doll while working on the big founders box. I used the primitive painting posted herein as inspiration. I'll post a picture of the doll when I get a chance.
