Following History's Trail

We'll be leaving Williamsburg this morning for Charlottesville. I've reserved seats for us at a lecture this afternoon on Ben Franklin at the Jefferson Library. We hope to have enough time to tour Monticello beforehand, although we have toured Monticello before. This is our fourth visit to Williamsburg and we still haven't seen everything. I hope that next time, I'll be able to see the costume collections. If you're interested in horses and carriages, I highly recommend the Bits and Bridles walking tour. It's free with the Liberty Pass, but you have to make a reservation. A docent takes you down to the stables and carriage house and tells you all about the equestrian program. It was cool.

We also took the Gardens of Gentility tour yesterday. The docent talked about how the gardens revealed the different levels of wealth and status of the occupants of the property.

All in all, it was a very good visit, even if we did get rained out on Sunday at our show. Nobody sold, so everyone's coming home with me. Of course, Madison and Jefferson will get a chance to visit their homes. I suppose if I take them on the tours with me, the docents will think I'm a nut. Not that that will stop me -- or that they won't think I'm a nut anyway. LOL.

Williamsburg, how splendid a town indeed! I have only visited once in my 9 years of living in Virginia I must go again. Sounds like you had a wonderful time!
Have a Good Day !
